On the anniversary of launching our FinOps roundup, we’re kicking off the blog’s second year with exciting platform enhancements. Our FinOps roundup for January 2025 includes custom text for dashboards, a simplified integration experience, support for MongoDB Atlas costs, and a new managed service provider (MSP) billing rule.

Add custom text to dashboards
You can now personalize your Ternary dashboards by adding custom text widgets! Provide context and share important information with your team by adding notes, instructions, or any other relevant text. This update enhances team collaboration and improves clarity by highlighting key insights directly within your dashboard.
Whether you want to guide your team through a process or emphasize critical data, custom text makes your dashboards more informative and tailored to your needs. Start using this feature today to create dashboards that work harder for you!
Simplified integration configuration and management
Also new this month are updates designed to simplify your integration configuration and management experience. First, we’ve streamlined the Admin pane, expanding the Integrations tab’s contents to include content formerly located under the Clouds tab. Now, you can access all integration types—cloud, data, collaboration, and workflow—from one organized page, saving you time and effort. Additionally, a new table view improves navigation, visibility, and control of your integrations. You can manage your integrations directly through a simple Details button.
To further enhance your experience, we’ve replaced the previous modal-based interface with a more intuitive setup workflow. Each integration now has its own dedicated configuration page. There, a user-friendly, step-by-step process guides you through both required and optional fields.
Support for MongoDB Atlas costs
Good news: Ternary now integrates with MongoDB Atlas. This enhancement enables you to connect your MongoDB billing data directly to the Ternary Reporting Engine for seamless cost management and insights. You can now easily manage and analyze MongoDB costs alongside data from other cloud providers in one central location. This integration empowers you to make data-driven decisions that boost efficiency and reduce overspending. Take advantage of this update for full visibility and control of your MongoDB costs.
New MSP Billing Rule – Target Margin
The Ternary MSP Billing Rules Engine now includes a powerful new rule type: Target Margin. MSPs can use this feature to automatically adjust end-user costs based on a desired margin target for individual, multiple, or all child tenant environments. With the Target Margin rule, MSPs can set a specific margin percentage. Ternary will automatically adjust the billing to meet that target—whether it’s applied to costs or credits. This new functionality gives you greater flexibility and control over billing, ensuring that you can optimize your margins consistently across your entire customer portfolio. Take advantage of this feature to streamline billing operations and boost profitability.
