Welcome to the June 2025 edition of our monthly FinOps feature roundup. Each month, we spotlight the latest innovations from Ternary designed to help you drive cloud cost transparency, improve efficiency, and strengthen collaboration across teams. In May, we introduced major updates around FOCUS, custom labels, and multi-currency support. A unified cost allocation and billing rules engine
We’ve merged the Ternary Cost Allocation engine into our MSP Billing Rules Engine, creating a single, powerful engine for all customers. With this consolidation, direct customers now gain access to advanced billing actions, like rerating or backing out line items, that were previously exclusive to managed service providers (MSPs).
The unified engine also introduces granular control over rule creation and prioritization. You can now build complex rules and adjust their order with intuitive drag-and-drop functionality. This enhancement streamlines rule management and empowers both direct customers and partners to manage cloud costs with greater precision.
Smarter reporting with data source icons
We’ve upgraded the Ternary Reporting Engine with visual data source icons to make configuring reports faster and more intuitive. Our multi-cloud FOCUS dataset now features a dual-cloud icon for easy identification, while cloud-specific data sources display their respective provider’s logo. These visual cues help you quickly distinguish between data sources, especially in complex Cloud+ environments, saving you time and improving reporting accuracy.
Export budgets with ease
You can now export all of your budget data directly from Ternary as a CSV file. Each export includes:
- Budget names and values
- Month-to-date (MTD) spend
- Projected spend
- Variance in both dollars and percentages
This update makes it easy to share budget insights with stakeholders or plug data into other tools for deeper analysis.
Introducing: Ternary in 90 Seconds or Less
In June, we launched a brand-new video series to help you get even more out of Ternary. Ternary in 90 Seconds or Less features bite-sized videos that walk through key features, use cases, and answers to common questions. Whether you’re building your FinOps practice from scratch or optimizing an existing one, these videos highlight how Ternary delivers real-world value.
